Basic Information
I Would Describe Myself As
I've spent the last two years of my life just becoming accustomed to the changes that life brings. It took me 1 1/2 years to slowly become 'okay' with being alone. I don't love easily...but when I do commit...it tends to be permanent. I'm not looking for romance at the moment, just for friendships. After failing at the marriage game twice in 39 years; I'm sort of gunshy. I'm an old-fashioned sort of guy...loyal to a fault...to my family...friends...those I care about. Last year I re-entered the world of Motorcycles after a hiatus of some 24 years;I ride a Suzuki Boulevard Cruiser. Varied interests...like live theatre, music concerts (Blues, Gospel, Classic rock and roll, etc). The pictures are all current...late 2007 to early 2008. Don't worry...I'm MUCH better looking in real life than that...I just keep getting better! (Imagine how bad I looked 20 years ago...LOL!)
I love the ocean...beaches...walking the seawall...having coffee overlooking the bay...powerwalking...hiking (nothing too strenuous), motorcycling, travel (when I can afford it), reading, classic cars, and much, much more.
I put 'social drinking' down..as that's the only viable choice available...but really drink very little, perhaps a couple of bottles of rum/year...and maybe a sixpack of beer/yr.
As for the rest...Me?
I'm eclectic! Cerebral...but earthy. I can hold my own in a conversation on esoteric topics...yet am totally comfortable working with my hands. I'm university/college educated (partially, but my 'degree' comes from the School of hard knocks, LOL), but also a tradesman. (tin basher) I'm mystical...yet linear. I cooked and cleaned and took care of the children long before it was politically correct to do so.
I love the simple things...walking in the snow (or...rain...here at the West Coast), walking in the fog...power-walking, walking the seawall...at English Bay/Stanley Park, beachcombing...looking for treasures, open ocean, wild wave beaches, coffee and a good book...or...better yet...good conversation, eye contact, the thrill of feeling my heart 'turn over' in my chest when that special person looks at me...(so far...only happened with one person)... and much, much more.
I'm a pretty 'spiritual' person, although I don't always wear my 'faith' on my sleeve. I'm just individualistic enough that I don't fit comfortably into ANY mold...which has caused me endless grief in the various churches I've been involved with over my lifetime. A saying I like goes something like this..."People are leaving the 'church' in droves...and discovering God!"
